Joe Tian

Joe is a founding partner of Detong Capital. Joe acted as the former Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director at DragonTech Ventures. Prior to that, Joe was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan, mainly responsible for corporate finance and M&A in greater China. He also worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in the US.

Joe invested in Bairong(HK:6608), Chipscreen (SSE:688321), Amsky (SZSE:300521), Houpu (SZSE:300471), Chineseall (SZSE:300364), Hosjoy, Longmen (acquired by Kingswood 300192), Hiteck (SZSE:300683), Kanghui  (SSE:603139), Buchang (SSE:603858), HeKeDa (SZSE:002816), Hebang (SSE:603077), Pearl-in-Palm (acquired by Zongyi SSE:600770), China MingYang (NYSE:MY), Luckypai (acquired by Lotte Group), MeMeStar (acquired by Nasdaq:SINA and became Sina Mobile), SunTech Power (NYSE:STP), etc. He served as the board member of many public companies.

Joe was named to the Forbes China Midas List 10 times from 2008 to 2019, Top 50 Capitalists by Chinese Venture in 2019,Top 50 Capitalist by YiCai in 2019, China’s Top 20 most Influential Capitalists by CVCRI in 2017&2018, China's Top 10 Venture Capitalists by ChinaVenture CVawards in 2010, China's Top 100 Venture Capitalists by ChinaVenture – FT & HuRun in 2016, China's Top 50 Venture Capitalists by ChinaVenture CVawards in 2018 and Top 100 in 2019, Top Capital Investors at the 5th Top Capital Summit for Asia-Pacific in 2008, Top 10 Most Influential PE Investors at the China International High-Tech Expo in 2007. He was elected as Executive Chairman of China Council for International Investment Promotion Investment and Financing Committee (CIFC) 2012.

Joe received an MBA degree from the Wharton School and Master and Bachelor degrees in engineering from Bradley University and Chongqing University respectively. He served as President of Wharton Club of Shanghai 2012-2019, Chairman of Organizing Committee of 53rd Wharton Global Forum, member of Wharton’s Executive Board for Asia since 2020.
